Rain is a good thing...

For as much planting as we have to do today, I was thankful for the rain this morning.
It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I deactivated from Facebook and started going down to the barn again. And it feels so good!
I am tired and my house is a disaster (seriously, Jesse used a fork to spread butter on his bagel this morning 😂) But I'm so happy with the projects we've started this week.
The garden is tilled and I've finally started planting my sprouts I have been babying for the last three months. The pumpkin patch has been expanded to between 2 1/2 and 3 acres this year, so that's the next task after the garden is done.
And if we didn't have enough going on, Jesse's friend dropped off 2 baby lambs this weekend. I know nothing about sheep, but I am learning and they're both doing well as of this morning. The kids are in love with them, apart from the loud BLAHHHH sounds the older one makes.
We are still getting a schedule down, but in the mornings Jesse milks while I feed all my babies. We have 4 Holstein calves, and 24 hens that drink their fresh milk from buckets. We have 21 pullets ready to try out the chicken tractor when it's ready. We have 1 broody hen sitting on 13 guinea eggs (with 1 hanging out for moral support) 😂 and now we have 2 bottle fed lambs.
With the 3 fresh heifers, that's ALOT of milk each day, so we are using up as much as we can :)
This week/weekend projects include (in this order):
*** Finish planting the garden
*** Plant the pumpkins
*** Pick up piglets
*** Finish chicken tractor
*** Clean out yellow barn to make a better sheep pen
Along with groceries, housecleaning, cooking, dropping parts off to be fixed... God is so good to bless us with this life. I truly feel I've stepped into my purpose <3
SOOO all that to say, the rain was a welcome reminder (almost felt like "permission") to slow down, snuggle my babies, and spend time in the house. Permission to do dishes 😂 imagine that!
