Radiant beams

My Peanut is five now, and has been asking some really great questions. When we listen to music in the car (shoutout to 106.3 WCTL), sometimes she will say, "Mommy, what does this song mean?" š® I'll admit, usually I'm unprepared for it, but it always ends up with a great discussion. š
Before bed last night, we were singing "Silent Night" (because it's one of the few Christmas songs she knows the correct words to š) and she stopped me when we got to the part that goes, "Radiant beams from thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace." "Mommy what does that mean?" š¤
My explanation was imperfect at best, but I said the "radiant beams" were kind of like the light that we see on movies that shines down on baby Jesus, except this light is coming Him. And it shines because of His "redeeming grace," because He was special. Because Jesus died on the cross for us so we can go to heaven some day, and He couldn't die for us if he was BORN first. To which she replied, "ohhhh yeah like that one movie we watch that I sit quiet and still for so I can watch and remember what happened and learn." Like she knew all that already š
Fast forward to this morning, and this portion of Revelation 21 really spoke to me. The new Jerusalem will be so perfect, that we can't even fathom it. It never occurred to me that we won't even need the sun and moon, or a physical church, because God will be dwelling among us, and his glory will be all that we need. š
THAT is something refreshing to look forward to! <3
